On August 27, 2009 Lake Oliver sponsored a welcoming dinner for Greater Livingston County Economic Development Council (GLCEDC) with locally grown produce from the Stewards of the Land and organic pork from Green Acres Farm in Chatsworth.

This was a great opportunity for county business and political leaders to learn about the GLCEDC agenda for economic development in the county.

Chatsworth HistoricalEconomic Development

Livingston County and the town of Chatsworth are a reminder of the way things used to be in rural America. Corn silos. 4-H Fairs. Fourth of July parades. Vintage tractor shows.

And yet there is a recognition that change is inevitable and must be embraced to provide a prosperous future for generations to come. To that end, the political and business leaders of Chatsworth and Livingston County have been very progressive in implementing programs to encourage investment in the area. The board of Chatsworth enthusiastically ratified a Tax Increment Finance district for Chatsworth that will bring critical infrastructure improvements to the town and the Lake Oliver property. As properties are developed and sold at Lake Oliver, the TIF will provide a consistent revenue stream to implement improvements in services and the built environment throughout the town that should revitalize a once-charming community.

Lake Oliver enjoys similar levels of support at the county level.
